Treating Prolonged Mourning in Spanish-Speaking Psychiatric Patients

A high incidence of prolonged mourning was observed among Spanish-speaking patients at a California state hospital. To help patients work through their grief, the staff use a form of psychodrama in which burial rites are re-enacted. Staff ratings at discharge indicate the procedure alleviates mourning problems for many patients.
